“Close your eyes. Fall in love. Stay there.” — Rumi
For me, that place has always been art.
Growing up, dance was simply a part of my life—a hobby that brought me immense joy, without the weight of ambition or the expectation of becoming a profession. I never imagined that it would one day become the very ground beneath my feet.
It is where I have found refuge when life unfolded differently from what I had imagined, where I have returned to listen, to heal, and to begin again. In many ways, art has cradled me just as much as I have devoted myself to it.
My relationship with art is an ongoing dialogue—one of listening, questioning, surrendering, and discovering.
As a Bharatanatyam artist and choreographer, I am drawn to stories that continue to echo across time. Mythology, memory, devotion, grief, justice, womanhood, and lived experience intertwined in my work, not as distant narratives but as living questions.
I return to these stories not simply to preserve them, but to converse with them—to uncover their silences, challenge their assumptions, and discover how they continue to speak to our lives today.
I believe dance has the power to hold contradictions: tenderness and rage, stillness and movement, vulnerability and strength, the personal and the universal.
It creates conversations where words fall short and invites us to pause, reflect, and feel. Every work I create is an act of inquiry—a search for meaning, connection, and truth.
If there is one thing my journey has taught me, it is this: art does not simply mirror life—it shapes it. And in allowing myself to be shaped by both, I continue to discover not only new stories, but new ways of being.
